I'm Katie, a current media & communications assistant, and a future social media manager with a professional sports team.

I've resided in the sports world for almost 20 years as an athlete and am looking forward to bringing my talents, creativity, and perspectives to the realms of sports media marketing and sports journalism.

KATIE MACK

Social Media Coordinator

former
sec student-athlete
with a desire to tell the untold stories of athletes.

My dream of working in sports stems from wanting to know who athletes are behind the gear, off the field, and on their off days.

Having been a collegiate athlete myself, I know firsthand that being an exceptional athlete is the very tip of iceberg of who someone is as a human being. Sports marketing and NIL deals are becoming so successful because sports fans connect better with who these athletes are as humans than with what their stats are.

My dream is to be the one asking the questions and telling these stories, and I believe that my experience as an athlete gives me a unique perspective in this role.

I currently work freelance in the sports creative world. This summer, I am working with Major League Baseball as Home Run Derby X’s very first Social Media Manager where I assist the MLB in marketing their Derby X events. As the Social Media & Communications Assistant for PRO5 Baseball Academy in Raleigh, NC, I also manage all of PRO5’s social platforms, create and edit photo, video, and graphic content, conduct interviews with staff and players, structure and schedule content for optimal marketing, and more. Prior to this, I interned with the Southeastern Conference and assisted at the SEC Football Championships and SEC Women’s Basketball Championships in a digital media role.

I also recently completed a remote creative internship with Atlanta’s professional volleyball team, the Vibe, where I help bolster their digital presence by writing articles for the website, editing feature reels for socials, creating graphic content, and more.
